Southern Comfort & Lemonade: Your Go-To Easy Drink
Looking for a quick, satisfying drink that doesn't skimp on flavour? The Southern Comfort & Lemonade is a timeless classic for a reason. It’s incredibly easy to make, delivering a delightful balance of sweet, fruity, and subtly spiced whiskey liqueur with the crisp, tangy refreshment of lemonade. Perfect for a sunny afternoon, a BBQ, or just relaxing after a long day.
Ingredients
- 2 oz (60ml) Southern Comfort
- 4-6 oz (120-180ml) Lemonade (still or sparkling, to preference)
- Ice cubes
- Lemon wedge or slice, for garnish
Instructions
- Fill a highball glass generously with fresh ice cubes.
- Pour the Southern Comfort directly over the ice.
- Top up the glass with your chosen lemonade. Start with 4 oz and add more if you prefer a less potent drink.
- Give the drink a gentle stir with a bar spoon to combine the ingredients without losing too much fizz.
- Garnish with a fresh lemon wedge or slice on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Tips for the Perfect Serve
- Quality Matters: While a simple drink, the quality of your lemonade can make a big difference. Opt for a good quality lemonade, or even make your own for an elevated experience.
- Chill Everything: For the coldest, most refreshing drink, ensure your Southern Comfort and lemonade are well-chilled before mixing.
- Adjust to Taste: The 1:2 or 1:3 ratio of Southern Comfort to lemonade is a guideline. Feel free to adjust the proportions to suit your personal preference for strength and sweetness.
- Glassware: A highball glass is traditional, but any tall glass will work beautifully for this long drink.
Variations
- Fruity Twist: Add a splash of cranberry juice, a few muddled raspberries, or a dash of peach schnapps for an extra layer of fruitiness.
- Herbal Infusion: Muddle a few fresh mint leaves in the bottom of the glass before adding ice and liquids, or garnish with a sprig of rosemary for an aromatic touch.
- Sparkling Kick: Use sparkling lemonade for extra effervescence, or add a splash of soda water to still lemonade for added fizz.
- Sour Comfort: For a tarter drink, add a small squeeze of fresh lime juice along with the lemonade.
